Nyerere National Park

Tanzania's Wildest, Least-Crowded Wilderness

  • June to October for classic dry-season game viewing; the park is best reached by light aircraft.

Carved from the northern part of the former Selous Game Reserve, Nyerere is Tanzania's largest national park and one of the last great wildernesses in Africa. The Rufiji River winds through it, opening up boat safaris alongside the classic game drive, and with a fraction of the visitors of the northern circuit, sightings feel wonderfully undisturbed.
